What are you smiling about?  I finally finished making two ring guards for my friend Garry who was the inspiration behind my Commitment rings.  He wanted two high polished rings to wear on either side of his white gold band with a champagne diamond baguette.  I have to say, it looks fabulous and he couldn’t be happier.  What is making me smile though is how happy Garry is.

I don’t like to consider myself a materialistic person.  In fact, I am perfectly happy living in my jeans and a t-shirt.  Why then do I get such a thrill out of a new handbag or a pair of shoes?  Is it the thrill of the purchase?  Knowing that I single handedly am spending our country out of a recession.  I’m sure there is a good therapist out there who will tell me it’s my need for closure (my wallet), lack of fatherly affection (he never gave me a credit card), or the Mommy complex (why does she get a new pair of shoes and I don’t?)  Whatever the affliction, I know it can be cured, if somewhat temporarily, by a red soled savior.  Two of them actually, they come in pairs.

So if Prada, Christian Louboutin, and Gucci can make me smile, I’d like to hope that when someone buys a piece of Sandy Leong jewelry it makes them just as happy!  Tell me what’s making you smile today.
