I have been attending TED conferences since 2003. This past week, I had the pleasure of attending TEDWomen in San Francisco, which is specifically focused on women in the areas of Technology, Entertainment and Design. It was amazing to meet truly innovative women and because TEDWomen is a smaller conference, the format allows you to have conversations in a more intimate setting.

The most inspirational speaker at the conference was Dyan Nya, the first person to swim from Cuba to the US. She tried five times, never gave up, trained with purpose and her mantra was "find a way." I met a lot of great women at this year’s conference: many filmmakers, a woman who was a Moonie for five years and is now a de-programmer, a fascinating toy maker/developer, investors, etc. This conference is unique because you meet very powerful, amazing women who are making a difference and yet because of the culture at the conference are very approachable, giving and sharing. Everyone was so helpful, giving advice on things such as career, strategic planning or where to find the best restaurants in their city. Everyone is trying to make connections for you, too.

What a fantastic, inspirational experience!  Looking forward to future TEDWomen events...
